SUNYAC WOMEN'S SOCCER PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Two Fredonia State student-athletes no strangers to accolates have received weekly SUNYAC awards in their respective sports.

For the second time in three weeks, senior libero Sarah Zureck has been selected SUNYAC Women's Volleyball Player of the Week. It was also the third straight week and the fourth time in five weeks a Blue Devil has been chosen in volleyball.

For the second time this fall, senior forward Reilly Condidorio is the SUNYAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week.

The Blue Devils received five weekly awards overall, including three in swimming and diving (see separate story).

In women's volleyball, Fredonia State's outstanding play on defense was a huge key to its success last week -- five wins in five tries. Zureck accumulated 101 digs, 10 aces, reached the 2,000 career dig milestone, and set a school record for service aces.

She and senior outside hitter Jennifer Newhouse were named to Rochester Tournament all-tournament team after the Blue Devils won all four matches in it, including 3-0 over St. Lawrence and 3-2 over New York University. Both teams are regionally ranked.

Junior outside hitter Lindsey Olson received the SUNYAC award last week, Zureck the week before, and Newhouse on Oct. 3.

The Blue Devils will be back in action Friday in the SUNYAC Tournament at Cortland.

In women's soccer, Condidorio notched a pair of goals and one assist during 2-1 wins over Rochester Institute of Technology and Brockport.

The Brockport win came in the first round of the SUNYAC Tournament. Condidorio scored the game-winning goal on a penalty kick. In the process, she became the Fredonia State record holder in career points (82), career goals (34), single-season points (32), and single season goals (14).

Condidorio was previously selected SUNYAC Player of the Week on Oct. 3. In addition, junior goalkeeper Meaghan Meszaros received the award on Oct. 17.

Condidorio, Meszaros, and their Blue Devil teammates will face New Paltz at noon Wednesday in a SUNYAC semifinal. The game will be played at Dietz Stadium in Kingston, N.Y.
