2011 IWLCA ALL-REGION SELECTIONS

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia State junior defender Megan Mietelski has been named to the Empire Region Second Team by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association.

Normally assigned to the opponent's top offensive threat, Mietelski earned the respect of SUNYAC coaches as well. She was named First Team all-conference this spring (her third straight year as an all-conference selection) after finishing second on the team with 38 draw controls and 21 caused turnovers. She also collected 19 groundballs.

"It's a well-deserved honor," head coach Chris Case said. "She's the leader of our defense. She works so hard. It's great to see a defender receive such an honor."

Mietelski is the third Blue Devil to receive an all-region award. The others were Emily Reichert (2008) and Amy Simon (2010).
