GENEVA, Ohio -- Fredonia State's men's distance medley relay team reached the ECAC qualifying standard Friday while competing at the SPIRE Midwest Open.
The quartet of sophomore
Steve Whittemore (Penfield), senior
Cody Dahleiden (East Aurora), freshman
Jonmichael Knapp (Rochester), and sophomore
Nico Piacentini (Webster) combined for a time of 10:37.
In other events, four Fredonia State men and three women recorded personal-best times in the 5,000 meters.
On the men's side, junior Peter Francia (Rochester) hit the tape in 15:28, junior
Jack Bennett (LeRoy) in 15:41, freshman
Chris Shartrand (Niskayuna) in 15:53, and sophomore
Cal Hayward (Victor) in 16:05. All were personal bests.
On the women's side, senior
Amanda Solly (West Seneca) and freshman
Amanda Cocchiara (Hilton) had season-best times of 19:20 and 19:58, respectively. Record personal bests were sophomore
Anna Hourihan (Buffalo) in 20:43, junior
Chelsea Haag (Brockport) in 21:23, and junior Lindsay Rynders (Williamson) in 21:37.
The meet resumes at 10 a.m. Saturday.
