RESULTS: TEAM SCORES / INDIVIDUAL RESULTS

PORTLAND, N.Y. -- Geneseo won its 12th SUNYAC Women's Cross Country team championship Saturday in the rain and mud at Lake Erie State Park.

The Blue Knights accumulated 45 points, nearly half that of second-place finisher Plattsburgh (84 points). Oneonta was a close third (85 points), followed by Cortland (90 points), New Paltz (118 points), Fredonia State (143 points), Brockport (156 points), Buffalo State (223 points), Oswego (231 points), and Potsdam (329 points).

Cassie Goodman was Geneseo's top finisher -- fourth overall -- with a time of 23:29.90 over the 6,000-meter course. She was joined by Ashton Hughes (eighth; 24:09.57); Brigid Heenan (10th; 24:11.43), Cailin Kowalewski (11th; 24:11.74), and Rebekah Steinke (12th; 24:15.49) as the scoring quintet for the Blue Knights. Alyssa Knott (14th; 24:18.68) and Mary Aldridge (15th; 24:20.51) were the top two displacers.

Cortland's Emily Cotey was the individual race winner. A junior from Norwood, N.Y., Cotey perservered through the waterlogged and  muddy course -- ankle deep in some areas -- to outlast the competition in 23:24.72.

Brockport sophomore Rachel Malone was second overall in 23:25.92. She and Cotey were among a group of six women to earn spots in the SUNYAC Women's Cross Country Hall of Fame. The top five finishers automatically earn a spot in the Hall. In addition, any runner who finished in the top 10 twice or in the top 15 three times make the Hall of Fame.

In addition to Cotey and Malone, the other women entering the Hall were Goodman, New Paltz's Nichole Wischoff (fifth; 23:41.70), Plattsburgh's Kelley Driscoll (sixth; 23:47.18), and Cortland's Jordyn Naylon (seventh; 24:07.01). Oneonta's Danielle Kennedy (third; 23:26.26) earned inclusion following the 2011 race.

All-conference team members were selected from the top 15 finishers. The First Team -- the top seven runners -- consisted of Cotey, Malone, Kennedy, Goodman, Wischoff, Driscoll, and Naylon. The Second Team -- spots eight through 15 -- was made up of Hughes of Geneseo, Colleen Coon (ninth; 24:11.36), Heenan of Geneseo, Kawalewski of Geneseo, Steinke of Geneseo, Amanda Wolfer (13th; 24:18.36) of New Paltz, Knott of Geneseo, and Aldridge of Geneseo.
