UPDATES WITH ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The 2012 SUNYAC Swimming and Diving all-conference team was announced Tuesday.

Comprised of top finishers during the conference championship meet last week, the All SUNYAC team was comprised of eight Fredonia State Blue Devils.

On the women's team, junior Sarah Ficarro (Owego) and sophomore Ashley Keller (Lockport) were First Team selections. Ficarro won the 3-meter springboard diving championship and was second in the 1-meter event, while it was the opposite for Keller -- first in the 1-meter and second in the 3-meter.

In addition, Ficarro was named Women's Outstanding Diver of the Meet and SUNYAC Athlete of the Week in women's diving.

Two other Blue Devil women's divers were selected to the Second Team -- senior Leanne Kies (Owego) and sophomore Katelyn Haley (Canandaigua). They were joined by two swimmers, junior Stephanie Andrasek (Parma, Ohio) and junior Lizzie Lodinsky (Buffalo).

On the men's side, junior diver Ryan Fuller (Endicott) made the First Team and sophomore John Estanislau (East Longmeadow, Mass.) the Second Team. Fuller won both men's diving events.. He was named Men's Outstanding Diver of the Meet as well as SUNYAC Athlete of the Week in men's diving.

WAITING GAME: Eight Fredonia State divers attained NCAA consideration scores during the season, yet not all eight will make the final field for the Division III championship meet next month.

Assistant coach John Crawford, who specializes in diving, said the finalists will be announced in early March after all the remaining conference championship meets are held. They will be chosen by a panel of national judges who must review videotapes submitted by schools and conferences.

A four-time All-American, Ficarro would be making her third NCAA appearance if chosen. None of the other current Fredonia State divers have been to the D-III meet. The waiting list is comprised of Haley, Keller, Kies, and freshman Heather Colby among the women, and three men: Fuller, senior John Rodman (Livonia), and sophomore Joshua Croft (Corning).

This year's championship meet will be held March 21-24 at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind.

RECOUNT: While the SUNYAC women's team point totals changed from an earlier list, there were no changes in the order of top-three finishers. The official order of finish has Geneseo first with 721.5 points, Fredonia State second with 657.5, and Cortland third with 633. It was the best finish ever by the Blue Devil women's team.
