RESULTS
MEADVILLE, Pa. -- Nine Fredonia State track and field athletes -- six men and three women -- competed last Friday in the sixth annual Gator Invitational, hosted by Allegheny College.
The top Blue Devil performance of the day was a Frank B. Fuhrer Field record in the 100 meters by senior
Webster Thomas (Windsor, Conn.) of 10.76 seconds during preliminaries.
Thomas finished fifth in the finals in 10.85 seconds.
In the men's high jump, junior
Spencer Lefort (Java Center) tied for third in a field of 12. He clearned 1.87 meters (6' 1.5").
The men's pole vault was broken into two sections. In the morning, sophomore
Ben Nalette (Wethersrfield, Conn.) finished fourth of 11 by clearing 4.25 meters (13' 11.25"). In the evening, senior
Broncho Rollins (Ithaca) cleared 4.85 meters (15' 11") to finish third in a field of 10. Also competing in the evening was senior
Cody Dahleiden (East Aurora).
In the men's javelin, senior
Kyle Paganello (Batavia) was seventh among NCAA competitors with a throw of 49.06 meters (160' 11").
On the women's side, junior
Leslie Beaton (Bemus Point) was ninth of 19 sprinters in the 200 meters with a time of 27.66 seconds.
In the 800 meters, sophomore Kimberly Foltz (Elbridge) was 11th and junior
Kateri Walsh (West Seneca) was 16th in a field of 24. Their times were 2:24.84 and 2:27.88, respectively.
The meet was the final regularly scheduled event on the 2011-12 Fredonia State athletics calendar.
The NCAA Division III track and field championship meet is May 24-26 at Claremont, Calif., for qualifying athletes.
