2012 MEN'S NCAA OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD ENTRIES

FREDONIA, N.Y. – Two Fredonia State men learned Sunday they have been accepted into the field for the NCAA Division III Track & Field championship meet.

Junior multi-athlete Spencer Lefort (Java Center) and senior pole vaulter Broncho Rollins (Ithaca) will be traveling to California with their coaches for three days of competition starting Thursday.

It's the first trip to nationals for Lefort, the third for Rollins. The latter competed at the 2011 NCAA outdoor meet and the 2012 NCAA indoor meet, where he finished sixth and earned All-American status.

Lefort is 18th in the field of 20 accepted qualifiers in the men's decathlon, which will be held Thursday and Friday. He scored a personal-best 6,227 points while winning the SUNYAC championship the first weekend of May. He also competed in two other decathlons this spring.

The NCAA decathlon begins at 5 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time with the 100-meter dash. The decathlon's first event Friday is the 110-meter high hurdles, also at 5 p.m. EDT.

The pole vault competition is set begin at 6:55 p.m. EDT Saturday. That's when Rollins will look to improve on his No. 11 seed in the field of 20 vaulters.

His NCAA qualifying vault, a school-record 4.95 meters (16' 2 ¼”), came April 15 at the Bucknell Bison Classic. He also has cleared 4.85 meters May 11 at Allegheny and won the SUNYAC title with a vault of 4.80 meters May 4.

Rollins earned All-American status when finished sixth at indoor nationals last March by clearing 4.96 meters (16' 3 ¼”), also an indoor school record.

The championships will be held at Burns Stadium and will be hosted by Claremont McKenna-Harvey Mudd-Scripps Colleges.
