2012 SUNYAC SOFTBALL ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM
FREDONIA, N.Y. --
Katie Bartkowiak (Fredonia) and
Michelle Lattner (Cheektowaga) have been chosen to the 2012 SUNYAC All-Conference Team in women's softball.
Bartkowiak made the First Team and Lattner the Second Team in a vote of conference coaches. It was the third straight year Bartkowiak has been cited, and the first time for Lattner.
Bartkowiak, a junior outfielder, batted .400 -- eighth best in the SUNYAC -- with 44 hits, eight doubles, 28 runs scored, 17 RBI, and seven stolen bases. In addition, she made only one error all season -- in the first game of the season, and none thereafter.
Prior to 2010, when she batted a school-record .451, only two other players in program history had batted .400 or higher. Bartkowiak has batted .400 or above all three years. She is current all-time leader in batting average, slugging percentage, and on-base percentage and is poised to finish atop several other offensive statistical lists next spring as a senior.
Lattner, a senior first baseman, was sixth in SUNYAC batting with a .404 average. She had 36 hits, 12 doubles, 18 runs scored, and 16 RBI. She handled a team-high 218 chances and led the Blue Devils with a .982 fielding percentage.
She finished her four years with a batting average of .317, ninth highest in program history. She's also among the all-time leaders in numerous offensive categories and is the all-time leader in one -- most walks (48). She's also the all-time leader in three defensive categories -- most chances (875), most putouts (813), and highest fielding percentage (.986).
ALSO AMONG LEADERS: Bartkowiak and Lattner had company on the SUNYAC statistical leaderboards. Senior infielder
Lauren Larson (Lakewood) batted .416 in 2012, best on the team and third highest in the conference. The Blue Devils batted .310 as team, also third highest in the conference.
Three Blue Devil pitchers were among the Top 10 in earned run average. First on the team and fifth in the conference was junior
Alyssa Brognano (New Paltz), with a 2.64 ERA. She had a 5-4 won loss record. Another junior,
Danielle Shelp (Pittsford), was seventh with a 2.96 ERA while senior
Jennifer Tighe (Hamburg) was ninth at 3.16.
