FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia's collegiate indoor track & field season begins Friday when the Blue Devils compete at the Houghton College December Classic starting at 4 p.m.
It's the first of five indoor meets for the Blue Devils in advance of the SUNYAC meet Feb. 24-25 at Brockport. A last-chance meet at Ohio Northern proceeds the NCAA Division III championship meet March 10-11 at Napierville, Ill.
The outdoor season begins in early April.
Team captains are senior
Bobby Cooper (Macedon, N.Y./Gananda) and junior
Rocky Caparro (Staten Island, N.Y./Susan E. Wagner) for the men; and senior
Kara Hall (Fredonia, N.Y. / Byron-Bergen), senior
Alyssa Stroud (Allegany, N.Y. / Allegany-Limestone), and junior
Brittany Feldman (Jamestown, N.Y. / Southwestern) for the women.

MEN -- "Lots of athletes are itching to compete. The coaches will be watching all the freshmen very closely to see how they respond to college competition. Returning SUNYAC scorers will be a big focus, Caparro and
Nick Serafin (Depew, N.Y./Depew) will look to get a big start in the high jump.
Kyle Brown (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) andÂ
Damone Brown (Haverstraw, N.Y./North Rockland) will also look for a big start to the season. On the track, Cooper,
Ethan Francis (Dunkirk, N.Y./Dunkirk), and
Merlin Joseph Jr. Â (Binghamton, N.Y./Binghamton) will run the 3K to cap off a strong cross country season."
WOMEN -- "The women's team is very well rounded this year.
Sarah Couperus (Marion, N.Y./Marion) will look to start to defend her SUNYAC high jump title.
Kristen Sawyer (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport) and
Mikayla Capestrani (Jamestown, N.Y./Jamestown) will be off to a fast start in the pole vault.
Anneliese Bienko (Clarence, N.Y./Clarence) will be looking to throw a big mark early under new throws coach Kyle Armstrong.
Brenna Donovan (Youngstown, N.Y./Lewiston-Porter) and
Hannah Kurbs (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport) pair up in the 5K looking for personal-best times.
Bonnie Binggeli (Walworth, N.Y./Ruben A. Crillio) will tackle the 3K along withÂ
Stephanie Wojnowski (Rochester, N.Y./Eastridge), both coming off strong cross country seasons, will look for personal-best times."
