The Statesmen -- defending National Champs, current No. 1 in the polls, and undefeated in now 66-straight home games -- claimed a 3-0 win over the Blue Devils on Wednesday.

Senior goaltender Charles-Anthony Barbeau did his best to keep the Devils in the game. He turned away 55 of 58 shots (.948 save percentage). By comparison, Hobart's Mavrik Goyer need 19 shots to earn the shutout.

Hobart (26-0-0) got goals from Bauer Morrissey in the first period, and Chris Duclair and Nick Dimatos in the third.

The Devils made it interesting for a while. They limited the potent Hobart offense to one goal in the first, and shut them out in the second. Barbeau made 21 saves in the second.

It wasn't until eight minutes into the third that the Statesmen got their second goal.

Their third-and-final goal came on a power play. They went 1-3 on power plays, while the Devils went 0-3.

The Devils, who entered the extra frame with an extra skater due to a penalty on Potsdam late in the third, used the 4-on-3 to their advantage. Owen Cross ripped a one-timer into the net to end the game.

The excitement was compounded with the capacity crowd for the annual Pink the Rink game.

The teams traded goals in the first period. Potsdam's Jakub Hall scored first, then the Devils' Cash Anderson answered to tie the game at 1-1.

Potsdam's Eli Doughart-Wood scored the lone goal of the second period.

In the third period, Fredonia State's Keenan McNeill and Ethan Pitzman took turns scoring to give the Devils their first lead of the game, 3-3.

Potsdam tied things on a power play by Ryan Mahlmeister at 16:51.

The Devils would need 1:20 of overtime for Cross to find the net for the winning score. He was assisted by Owen Arnold and Anderson.

Charles-Anthony Barbeau made 32 saves in a winning effort for the Devils, now 4-17-1 and 4-10-1 in the SUNYAC. Lenny Perno had 19 stops for the Bears.

That evening, the Blue Devils will take on Potsdam in a SUNYAC contest. The action will begin at 7:00 p.m in the Steele Hall Ice Arena.

The Pink The Rink jerseys were purchased in advance and the buyers have dedicated the jersey and made tribute to a loved one by having that loved one's name printed on the back nameplate. All proceeds will go to benefit the American Cancer Society. The event -- begun in 2008 -- surpassed the $125,000 mark in funds raised.

Here is what head coach Jeff Meredith had to say about the upcoming event:
"This is our 17th year of Pink the Rink and to date, we have raised over $125,000 for the American Cancer Society. I think what makes our PTR unique is that when someone in the community purchases a jersey, they get to tell me what name they want on the back of that jersey.

What you find is that the person purchasing the jersey buys that jersey as a tribute to a loved one who is either battling cancer or succumbed to cancer. That family then comes to the arena that night and every time their player steps over the boards, they lock in and watch them battle and compete for 60 minutes.

Then at the end of the game, we roll the pink carpet out to center ice, the player comes out to greet the family and we all take a nice picture holding up the jersey to show that families name.

In addition, we print a game-night program that has a biography of every name on the back of the jerseys along with that person's picture. It brings an emotion to the arena that night that is just off the charts."

Pink the Rink 2026

<s:sport_id>6</s:sport_id><s:story_id>9456</s:story_id>

Liddelow, Barbeau named FSU AOTWs

FREDOINIA, N.Y. -- Freshman track sensation Yauvauni Liddelow and senior goaltender Charles-Anthony Barbeau were named the Fredonia State Female and Male Athletes of the Week.
