She earned a 3.94 GPA in Speech Pathology. Grazen, a defender, was previously named First Team All SUNYAC, Third Team All Region, and was named to the All Tournament Team following the Blue Devil Classic this fall.

Head coach Chris Case had this to say about his senior: "Not only does Brooke do an excellent job on the field but she excels to the highest degree in the classroom as well. Brooke is a very intelligent young woman who carries a 3.94 GPA in a very demanding and difficult major in Speech Pathology. I have always been impressed with how well she has done with her academics in such a challenging degree path. I believe her organization and time management are two skills paired with her work ethic and determination to do well as allowed her to earn such a great honor. Very proud to have her recognized for all of her hard work and represent Fredonia State in such a prestigious list of Student Athletes and Universities."

Brooke Grazen All Academic 2025

<s:sport_id>14</s:sport_id><s:story_id>9395</s:story_id>

Trio named to All-Region soccer team

FREDONIA, N.Y. — Fredonia State soccer is celebrating regional recognition, as three Blue Devils earned spots on the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III All-Region III Teams. Joining the trio were Third Team selections Alyssa Sabato and Kerrigan Driskell. Grazen and Driskell are both seniors, and the other three are juniors.

Madden is tied for the SUNYAC lead with 11 goals.

Irwin earned her third conference honor in three years while leading the SUNYAC in assists (9) and breaking the team's all time assist record (25) with one year left to play.

Grazen, a defender, helped the Devils to a 1.24 goals against average. "Her consistency from game to game and her ability not only to defend but her willingness to get forward in attack was crucial for our success," said head coach Chris Case.

Sabato, a midfielder, "stepped into a critical role for us and excelled at a high level," according to Case. "As the season went on she continued to increase her level both defensively and offensively for us as she was on many occasions the catalyst to start our attack."

Driskell was a part of the stingy Blue Devil defense that advanced to the semifinals of the conference tournament.

Of his defenders, Case said "Brooke Grazen closed out her career with her best season to date. Her consistency from game to game and her ability not only to defend but her willingness to get forward in attack was crucial for our success. You can say the same thing about Kerrigan Driskell who consistently made life difficult for opposing forwards and also was a threat going forward for us. Both of these players at outside back did a tremendous job making it difficult to attack and beat us on the outside."

Both squads won a first-round contest.

For the men, sophomore Ryan Ameis and junior Thomas McDonald were named. Ameis scored the team's only goal in a 1-0 win over Plattsburgh in the First Round. McDonald, a goalkeeper, made 11 saves and gave up two goals. The Devils eventually fell to Buffalo State, 2-0, in the Semifinal Round.

"Thomas and Ryan were integral to our victory over Plattsburgh," said head coach P.J. Gondek. "Thomas made some key second half saves and Ryan did his usual defensive work and scored the game winner. Their consistency carried over into the semifinals at Buffalo State even in the loss. To be fair these performances were typical of them throughout the entire season. Looking forward to having them both back in 2026."

The women also had their goaltender, freshman Casey Fetzner, honored, along with junior Bronwyn Madden. The women won their First Round game, 1-0, in double overtime over Oswego thanks to a Golden Goal from Madden. She would assist on the team's only score in a 2-1, season-ending loss at Plattsburgh. Fetzner made 16 saves and allowed two goals. Ten of those saves came in the shutout of Oswego.

He crossed the finish line in 26:06.8, six seconds ahead of the second place finisher.

For the women, Bronwyn Madden scored the only goal in a 1-0 double-overtime win over Oswego in the SUNYAC Tournament, as the Devils advance to the semifnals. Madden's 11 goals lead the conference.

Other Notables:
- Also at the Cross Country SUNYAC Championships, Kevin Moser was named Second Team All Conference with his ninth-place finish, and Lucas Peterson-Volz was named Third Team after finishing 13th.
- Volleyball clinched a playoff berth and had several standout performances over the weekend:

Kylie O'Brien (19 kills, 13 digs, two aces, one block)
Maeve Musielak (26 digs, 14 kills)
	Kailea Sullivan (33 digs)

- Casey Fetzner was perfect into double overtime as the Blue Devils came away with a 1-0 SUNYAC First Round win over Oswego. The freshman goaltender made 10 saves for the shutout. She was also named the SUNYAC Defensive Player of the Week.
- Ryan Ameis led a Fredoinia State defense that did not allow a goal in a road post-season game at Plattsburgh, as the Blue Devils came away with a 1-0 victory on Saturday. For good measure, Ameis moved upfield on a Fredonia State corner kick, and his header accounted for the only goal of the games as the Devils advance to the Semi Final Round on Wednesday. He was named the SUNYAC Defensive Player of the Week.
- Matthieu Fournier scored a pair of goals in a 4-3 loss to Potsdam on Saturday. His first goal came late in the second period to cut the Potsdam lead to 2-1. He scored early in the third period to make it a 2-2 game. His scores came just under four minutes apart.

Next up for the men is a short trip up I-90 to Buffalo State. The ladies have a bit further to go, with an overnight trip to Plattsburgh.

MEN at BUFFALO STATE
Earlier the season, the men fell 2-1 at Buffalo State, with the game-winning goal coming via a penalty kick in the 67th minute.

Coaches comments:
"Advancing in the SUNYAC playoffs is no small task so we are ecstatic to be moving on," said head coach P.J. Gondek. "We were not at our best against Plattsburgh but we were able to defend and find a late goal. Buffalo State is certainly a formidable opponent having only lost once this year. After a sluggish first half last time around were able to tie the game and after a back-and-forth second half giving up the penalty was the difference. As one of the top teams in our region with one of the top scorers in the country this is a tough matchup for sure, but a team that we are very familiar with."
